Many people often ask how to bring their does into a standing heat. Having at least one doe in a good standing heat is imperative for a successful buck collection. If you are having more than five bucks collected, or if the doe is under one year of age, having more than one doe available and in heat will be necessary. Below, we have included links to a letter written by Dr. R. Cole Younger, DVM in regards to the protocol that he uses for heat induction. However, we recommend that you consult with your veterinarian on this issue, as they will be able to assist you with the timing of your doe’s estrus cycle.
